Arzua-walked 14km

Today was exhausting! Felt more like 20km! It was very steep walking today and very hot. Need to do better about getting out of the albergue earlier. We took no break and basically walked 4 hours straight. My feet were killing me. When we arrived in Arzua we were told most of the albergue were “completo” … Which means full. Our reservations were another 10km.. I just couldn’t imagine going another 10 km.
We did find a place.. 2 beds at Via Lactea alb. We were so happy. It is really nice, with a kitchen, chairs around that are comfortable, garden area, clean big showers… Just really nice. The girls were on their own today but soon made contact and hoped we could get them reservations here. Luckily there were 2 left.
It is much more packed on the path. Probably 4 times or more the people. Because of that a lot of beds are taken. It is really hard not to get frustrated. It’s funny that we were so looking forward to the walk into Santiago… Now we would go back to the early part in a heart beat. So many of the new pilgrims don’t know the rules about things… Specifically about the albergue and use of the kitchen. There is also more litter on the trail… Just more general disrespect.
It was highly frustrating today after we had walked several steep hills, it was about 80 degree, not a cloud in the sky… A van stopped letting out about a dozen pilgrims, all fresh, with little 2 pound day packs… Ugh … They were all smiles and “buen Camino” ing… Just a little frustrating.
Stew and I had a nice lunch… Now just taking a much needed siesta before fixing dinner.
